How do you use water to test the freshness of raw eggs?
By Forinfos - 12/04/2025 - 0 comments
To test the freshness of raw eggs using water, fill a large bowl with water, place a single egg in the bowl, and observe the egg. If the egg rests on its side in the bottom of the bowl, it is fresh.
- Fill a large bowl with water
Use lukewarm water to test the egg. Fill the bowl with enough water to cover the egg by more than 1/2 inch.
- Observe the egg
The freshest eggs lay on their side at the bottom of the bowl. Eggs that stand upright but still touch the bottom of the bowl are still fresh, but should be consumed soon.
- Discard a floating egg
If the egg floats on top of the water, it is rotten and should be discarded.
