Are used appliances a good bargain?

Certain kinds of used appliances can be a good bargain if they are priced at a discount. In general, large appliances have long life spans and still have many years of use left in them after their original owners get rid of them.

Sometimes, the owner of an appliance is only selling the appliance because it no longer coordinates with his redecorated home. In these cases, the appliances still function properly and are a great buy if the price is right. Consumers should avoid buying used built-in appliances, however, because they are harder to install, and they may not fit in the buyer's home.
