When was the first ever ship built in the world?

As of January 2015, historians and archaeologists do not know when the very first individual ship was built. However, it is known that the ancient Egyptians were able to create watercraft with hulls using wooden planks and sails as early as 3000 BC.
Because the first vessels that met the criteria of being a ship were built so long ago, it is unlikely that the first particular ship will ever be known. The oldest ship that has been discovered by archaeologists is the wreck of the Uluburun, an Egyptian vessel found off the coast of Turkey that dates back to 1300 BC.
