Veneer log buyers are timber buyers who purchase high-end lumber for use in decorative furniture, ornate moldings, flooring and interior decorating. Veneer logs are generally sold for more than $1 per board foot and can run higher than $10 per board foot, as of 2015.

Generally, veneer logs must be at least 6 to 8 feet, centered, uniform in color and growth, and free of exterior bark defects and knots. There is no exact standard for veneer log buying, and prices are determined by the buyer and seller. Most veneer logs are the first logs above the stump of a tree.
