What is a verification code?
By Forinfos - 21/12/2025 - 0 comments
A verification code is a three- or four-digit number printed on credit and debit cards. This number is requested when a customer makes purchases as a method of reducing fraudulent orders. The verification code is used to ensure that the person placing the order has the card in hand.
On a Visa, Mastercard or Discover credit card, the verification code is three digits long, and it is located on the signature strip. On an American Express card, the verification code is four digits and is located on the front of the card above the credit card number; it can be either on the left or the right.
