As of 2015, there are no war criminals presently on the U.S. Marshals most wanted list. Fugitives on the list often include those wanted for murder, escape, running drug operations, high profile financial crimes and possession of child pornography and molestation.
The U.S. Marshals most wanted list was established in 1983 to prioritize the apprehension of high-profile fugitives considered to pose the biggest threat to society. Since the inception of the program, at least 229 individuals appearing on the list have been apprehended. The investigation team consists of a single U.S. marshal for each of the 94 federal court districts and thousands of deputy marshals and criminal investigators.
