1. Create a mixture of water and shampoo

   In a small bowl, mix in water and your favorite shampoo. Consider using shampoo that is specifically made for your type of hair.

2. Wear a stocking cap

   Wear a stocking cap, ski cap or beanie. Do not wash the hair directly; this protects the hair from frizzing and keeps your braids in good condition longer.

3. Wet the cap

   Use a portable shower head to lightly wet the cap. Use a soft stream of water for this step so as not to soak your hair.

4. Pat the cap with water-and-shampoo mixture

   Rub the water-and-shampoo mixture in your hands to create foam, and pat evenly on the cap. Gently massage the foam on the cap and leave it for a few minutes.

5. Rinse and dry the cap

   Set the portable shower head to a light stream and rinse the cap. Be sure to remove all the product. Pat dry with a clean towel, remove the cap and pat the hair directly to remove as much water as possible.

6. Apply oil

   Apply your favorite oil, preferably one which is designed for your specific type of hair.
