What are some ways to hang garland on a banister?

Hang garland by weaving it in and out of the spokes connected to the banister railing. Secure lightweight garland with ribbon, but use fishing or florist wire for heavier garland to support its weight. Embellish the garland with pinecones, flowers or other decorations.

The garland can be passed between spokes and then pulled taut so that it fits tightly against the banister or left with a little slack so that a loop of garland hangs down between each spoke. Extra garland may be spiraled around spokes at the beginning and end of the banister. For safety reasons, don't let garland hang onto the stairs or attach it to stair risers.
