What are some ways to get paid to drive?

Working as an Uber driver, a taxi driver or a commercial truck driver are some ways to get paid to drive. With some driving jobs, you can use your own car. For others, you drive a car or truck owned by the taxi or trucking company.

For most driving jobs, you must be at least 21 years old, pass a background check and have a clean driving record. Independent contractor jobs with Uber allow you to use your own car. Your car model year must be 2000 or later and in some cities 2005 or later. Some jobs with Uber, such as delivery truck driving, require a commercial driver's license.

Most truck driving and taxi jobs require you attend training programs before you begin working. Sometimes the programs are paid for by the company. A commercial license is required for truck driving jobs.
