How does webOS work?

WebOS is an operating system based on Linux that uses a touch-screen interface to allow users to interact with smart TVs and certain tablets. The interface for webOS allows the system to run multiple applications in a built-in multitasking feature.
WebOS also has a feature called "Synergy" that automatically consolidates data from multiple email accounts into a single interface. WebOS employs cloud-based synchronization of data to allow users to install updates to the operating system and to third-party applications without connecting the device to a computer. For the smart TV, LG modified webOS to simplify application switching and connectivity options.
