Well points are pipes designed with openings large enough to allow the entry of water, while small enough to retain the water-bearing structure intact, according to University of Minnesota.
There are well points that can be driven by hand and come in a range of sizes such as 1? and 2 inches in diameter. A well point may be between 18 and 60 inches long. The size of small particles of the material in the water-bearing formation determines what diameter a well point opening should be. Well points can be utilized to supply water in farms and for household use, British Columbia?s Ministry of Environment explains.
