Empire gas stoves were first manufactured in 1932, according to the company's website. Empire Comfort Systems originated in a sheet metal shop founded in Belleville, Illinois, by Henry Bauer in 1911, and the company was formally incorporated in August of 1932.
Empire Comfort Systems has been family-owned since its inception, and it continues to assemble heaters, fireplaces and grills at manufacturing facilities in Belleville, Illinois. In the 1980s, Empire was the first company to manufacture a gas-fired heater that operated at 80 percent efficiency, and it was also the first company to offer vent-free heaters with an oxygen depletion sensor that is now standard on all vent-free heaters made in the U.S. Most of the critical components of their products come with a lifetime warranty.
