Purple ketchup, part of the EZ Squirt lineup of ketchups, put out by the H.J. Heinz Company, was discontinued in 2006. EZ Squirt was a line of colored ketchups, which also included blue, green, pink, orange and teal, along with what the company termed "Mystery Color" that launched in October of 2000.
Heinz's EZ Squirt was very successful initially, as the company sold more than 25 million bottles during the first three years of production, pushing the company's share of the ketchup market past 60 percent. Designed for kids, the colored ketchups had names like Blastin' Green and Funky Purple. However, the sales eventually fell off and the product was discontinued after a six-year run.
