To find the Windows XP product key on a disc, insert the Windows XP disc into your computer, open My Computer, and open the disc drive. Open folder I386, and open the file named UNATTEND.txt. The product key appears at the bottom of the window.
- Insert the Windows XP installation disc
Load the Windows XP installation disc into your computer and open My Computer. Right click on the drive icon that depicts your disc drive, and select Explore.
- Open the I386 folder
Double click folder I386 to open it, and then open the file named UNATTEND.txt.
- Locate the product key
The product key is located at the bottom of the window. Write the key code down to use when reinstalling Windows XP.
