Wool is a textile fabric made from the the fleece that is harvested from sheep. Certain types of wool are also harvested from other animals such as goats, rabbits, muskoxens and camelids.
Wool is the world's top fabric that is made out of natural fiber. Wool-producing sheep are usually harvested for their fleece once a year. In some areas,in the world, however, sheep are shorn up to three times per year. As of 2014, it is estimated that there are more than one billion head of sheep that are raised for wool production. The biggest producers of wool in the world include Australia, China, Iran, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
