An example of ethnocentrism is when someone thinks that another's culture's traditional food is weird. An example of cultural relativism is the way some words are used as slang in various languages, having different meanings from one culture to another.

Ethnocentrism is the belief that one's native culture is the best way of understanding the world. Thus, people of one culture might judge those of another culture in such aspects as behavior, religion, and language in comparison. In contrast, cultural relativism is the idea that all beliefs and norms are dependent on their cultural context. The concept that nobody comes from a completely neutral position is a key component of cultural relativism.
