How large is Miami's transsexual population?

As of 2015, there is no estimation on the size of Miami's transsexual population. However, in 2006, the LGBT population of the Miami metropolitan area was estimated to be 4.7 percent or 183,346, and the national estimation for the trans population is .3 percent or roughly 700,000 adults.

Difficulties in determining the population sizes of the LGBT community, and even more so with the transsexual community, are due to survey methods and self reporting, as well as the differences in transgender versus transsexual identification. Transsexual often refers to individuals who have undergone gender reassignment surgery, while transgender refers to individuals who identify as the opposite gender of their biological sex.
