As of 2015, "The River Palace" is the most recent book written by Gilbert Morris. The Christian-themed book is set in post-Civil War America and explores the meeting and journey of a Confederate and Union soldier who encounter a group of gypsies.

"The River Palace" is the third title in Morris' "Water Wheel" series, which also includes "The River Queen" and "The River Rose." Morris is an extremely prolific Christian author and the 2001 winner of the Christy Award. His books have sold over seven million copies internationally, and Morris is also the cofounder of the independent publishing company Flag & Family Press.
