How do I write a check to myself for cash?

Make a check payable to your name, and then cash it at the bank. You need a pen, a form of identification and a check from your checking account. The process takes under 5 minutes.

1. Make the check payable to your name

   Write a check from your account so that it is payable to your name. Fill in the rest of the check with the amount of cash you would like to receive, the date and your signature.

2. Present the check to a teller

   Visit the bank, and present the check to a teller. Tell the teller you would like to cash the check.

3. Submit your identification

   When the teller asks for your identification, present it for verification.
