Do yeast infections smell?

According to WebMD, yeast infections are odorless. Symptoms of a yeast infection include vaginal itching, vaginal soreness and pain upon urination. In certain women, the overgrowth of yeast cells may also create a thick white discharge that is similar in appearance to cottage cheese.

Mayo Clinic explains that yeast infections occur when the bacteria in the vagina becomes unbalanced due to antibiotic use, pregnancy, impaired immunity and medical conditions such as diabetes. Yeast infections are also spread during sexual intercourse. Mild yeast infections can usually be treated with antifungal creams or suppositories. Severe infections may require long-term continual treatment with oral medications for a period of six months.
