Is a zebra a horse?

While zebras and horses are not exactly the same, they do share the same genus of Equus. Zebras are also very similar to donkeys, which make up another member of Equus.

There are a number of different species of zebra, such as the Grevy's zebra, mountain zebra and plains zebra. The biggest zebra, the Grevy's zebra, can weigh close to 1,000 pounds and be as tall as five feet at the shoulder. Mountain zebras and plains zebras can reach a maximum height close to the Grevy's, but grow to be about 100 pounds lighter. Africa is home to all the species of zebra, but the precise inhabited geographic areas vary according to the different species.
