As of 2015, Nassau of the Bahamas does not have a postal zip code. As a result, most communities in the Bahamas use a general delivery mail system that uses post office boxes.

All mailing addresses in the Bahamas are post office box addresses. Mail is delivered to post offices where citizens, residents and businesses can rent these boxes for annual fees ranging from $30 to $80, provided they are Bahamian citizens and 18 years and older. Each post office box is numbered and becomes the owner's mailing address. Because mail is primarily delivered by boat, delivery tends to be extremely slow, often taking up to a month for a letter to be delivered.
