Approximately 81 percent of those injuries were to individuals who were 15 years of age or younger. Three deaths, all children, occurred from lawn-dart use since 1997.\nAs of 1988, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, known as CPSC, banned all lawn-dart sales. Canada banned metal-tipped darts in 1989. In 1997, CPSC recommended all remaining darts be destroyed or discarded immediately.
