The koala is recognized as a protected species in Australia. The New South Wales government website explains that the animals are endangered by the loss of their habitat, frequent attacks from domestic dogs, road accidents and fires. It is estimated that there are fewer than 80,000 individual koalas left in the wild. This has led to the establishment of several "adopt a koala" programs, where people can donate money that will be spent on taking care of a specific koala specimen.

There are many rescue groups that work with pugs, and their adoption fees are usually considerably lower then buying a pug from a pet store or breeder. These pugs are also usually tested for health and temperament problems, so adopters have a good idea of what they are getting.\nMost responsible breeders do not sell their pugs cheaply, so cheap pugs are usually from puppy mills or inexperienced breeders. This can result in dogs with severe health and behavioral problems.

Lion prides consist of several females and a few males, with females related to one another in most instances. When a lioness has cubs, the females stay with the pride while the males strike out on their own to find or create their own prides. African lion prides consist of up to 40 lions, the majority of them female with a three-male leadership. On the other hand, Asian lion males and females form two distinct prides, keeping genders separate except during breeding.\nOnce the lionesses give birth, something that occurs for all the mature females during the same period, the entire pride takes ..

Most horses have two names, one for the stables and one for registering. The stable name is usually short and easy to pronounce. For registered names, horse owners need to check with the registry for rules and to avoid trying to register the same name that another horse has already.\nSome stable names may be based on the physical attributes of the horse. Horses that are especially fast may be named Swift, Hermes (who was a fast-moving Greek messenger god) or Jet. Horses with distinguishing physical features may also inspire names like Legs, Polka Dots or Star. Other horse names may be drawn fr..

In some species, the adults and larvae have a symbiotic relationship, in that the adult brings prey to the larvae to eat, after which the larva regurgitate a sugary substance that the adults then eat. However, other wasp larvae are purely vegetarians and subsist entirely off plants until they transform into adult wasps.\nSome species of wasps are parasitic as larvae. The adult lays eggs inside a spider or insect, and after the eggs hatch, the larvae then feed on it from the inside until it dies. In most parasitic wasp species, the adults feed only on nectar after they emerge from their dead ho..

Calves are between 3 to 5 feet in length at birth, and weigh between 22 and 44 pounds. Baby dolphins are born with hair on their upper jaws, which falls out shortly after birth. Their dorsal fins and tail flukes are flexible for a few days after birth, but these structures gradually stiffen. Fetal folding lines, markings that look like stripes on baby dolphins, disappear after 6 months.\nLike other mammals, dolphin calves nurse their mother's milk for about 12 to 18 months. After calves are weaned, the mother teaches her young how to hunt for food. Mothers care for their young for betwee..

In addition to their usual prey, red foxes sometimes attack young ungulates such as deer fawns. They are also not averse to raiding farms and ranches for domestic poultry such as chickens. Sometimes they feed on carrion.\nRed foxes typically hunt in late evening and early morning. They locate small rodents by sound and then leap upon them from up to 15 feet away. Once they have made a kill, they are possessive of their catch and defend it even against larger animals. They have also been known to indulge in surplus killing, slaughtering far more prey than they could possibly eat. Because this c..
