What is a 3.2 GPA equal to?

A 3.2 GPA is equal to a letter grade of B, or a number grade of 87 percent. Colleges use a grading scale from 0.0 to 4.0 to establish a student's grade point average.

On this scale, a 4.0 corresponds to a letter grade of A and percentage grades that range between 93 and 100. A failing grade is usually below the percentage grade of 65 and corresponds to a GPA of 0.0.

To calculate a GPA, the total number of grade points a student earns is divided by the total number of credit hours taken in a semester. Students that withdraw or otherwise do not complete a class do not receive a grade point for that class on an official college transcript.
