What was Abraham Lincoln's favorite food?

Duck, pheasant, seafood and cakes were among Abraham Lincoln's favorite foods, according to an article in the Huffington Post. Rae Katherine Eighmey, author of a culinary biography on Lincoln, notes that the president loved his wife Mary Todd's French almond cake, which he called "the best cake I ever ate."

Because egg prices were often very high during Lincoln's time, and Mary Todd was known to be frugal, Rae Katherine Eighmey believes that Mary Todd's cakes would have been made without eggs. She also notes that Mary Todd's cake recipes probably would have included blanched almonds and currants, which were popular cake ingredients at the time.
