What is an accident injury report?

An accident injury report is a document completed by an employer or representative of a business when someone is injured on the premises. Western Michigan University notes on its website that a supervisor should complete such a report on any employee, student or visitor injured at the college.

Some organizations are required to complete accident reports in line with OSHA regulations. The information on the report is also the company's formal documentation of the incident, according to WMU. Documenting the details of the accident and getting information from any witnesses are helpful if a lawsuit arises. Reports are also used to develop preventative strategies against future incidents.
