According to Dr. Oz, the best way to treat head lice is by washing the infested hair with vinegar and olive oil. Olive oil can also be used when picking nits or lice eggs out of the hair, as it makes the hair slippery and therefore makes the lice eggs easier to remove.
Head lice are wingless, flightless parasites that live in the hair and feed on blood by biting the scalp. Head lice is a common childhood infliction that is spread by direct contact. To get rid of head lice, clothing, bedding and stuffed animals must be washed in hot water and then dried on high heat. Furniture and bed mattresses should be ironed, since heat kills the lice.
