Is acetic acid a weak electrolyte?

Acetic acid is a weak electrolyte that is categorized as a weak acid. Acetic acid is a weak electrolyte because it only ionizes partially. In a solution, the ions of a weak acid tend to recombine to form the acid, unlike a strong acid that dissociates into ions.

The dissociation of acetic acid is a reversible reaction. In a chemical equation, the reversibility of the dissociation is represented with double arrows pointing in opposite directions. Although acetic acid is a weak acid, its conjugate base is strong. The strong conjugate base attracts a proton to form acetic acid when in solution.
