Does acrylic fabric shrink in the dryer?

Acrylic fabrics do not shrink when machine dried, but all synthetic fabrics have a tendency to pucker, so it is important to dry the garments on a low setting. Acrylic fabrics are also prone to static, which can be remedied with dryer sheets.

Acrylic fabrics also tend to pill, especially if the garments are pure acrylic as opposed to blends. Pilling can be minimized by hand washing the garments in warm water or by turning the clothing inside out prior to machine washing. It is always best to wash acrylics on a delicate cycle, as shorter wash cycles run on faster agitation speeds that can lead to breakage and tangling of the acrylic fibers.
