How do you adjust an adjustable watch band?

Remove the spring bar on an adjustable watch band to gain access to the pins holding links together. Take out a pin to remove a link, and then rejoin the pieces. You need a bradawl or other thin, pointed object to remove the pin, long-nosed pliers, a craft hammer and material to cushion the bracelet. Removing the link takes less than 30 minutes.
- Decide on the number of links to be removed
Place the watch on your wrist. Determine the number of links you need to remove. An even number is preferable, since this keeps the watch face centered on the band.
- Remove the spring bar
Open the bracelet. Remove the spring bar by using the bradawl as a lever. Once the spring bar pops off, place it in a secure location for later reattachment.
- Remove a pin between links
Flex the watch band to gain access to the pins holding the links together on the back side of the watch. Use the bradawl to push the pin out from the link selected for removal.
- Reinsert the pin between links
Remove the link. Using the pin you previously removed, reattach the links by lining up the holes and pushing the pin back through them, tapping it into place with a craft hammer if necessary. Remove a link on the other side of the watch if needed.
- Reattach the spring bar
Firmly press the spring bar back into position using the bradawl.
