Men who are 50 years or older are at the greatest risk of developing prostate cancer, states WebMD. Black men and men who have family history of prostate cancer undergo increased risks at 40 years of age. Despite its correlation with age, prostate cancer is less aggressive in older men.
Regular screenings should be conducted at age 40 for men who have had relatives with prostate cancer, according to WebMD. Diets high in fat are believed to be a contributing factor to the development of prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is more widespread in countries that consume large amounts of meat and dairy, and less so in those that subsist largely on rice, vegetables and soybean products.
