In Ohio, as of 2015, a teenager can obtain a learner's permit at age 15 1/2, a provisional license at age 16, and a full driver's license at age 18. Each step of graduated licensing program needs to be complete before moving on, according to the DMV.
The learner's permit allows a teenager to drive under the supervision of a licensed parent or certified driving teacher, according to the DMV. The provisional license permits unsupervised driving except between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. if the driver is 17 or 18, and between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. if the driver is under 17.
