What is the Air Force song?

The official song of the United States Air Force as of 2015 is "The US Air Force," written and composed by Robert MacArthur Crawford in 1938. Crawford submitted the song to a songwriting contest sponsored by Liberty magazine.

The song’s original title was "Army Air Corps." The title was changed to "Army Air Force" during World War II, and in 1947 when the Air Force became a separate service, it was changed once again to its current title. The cadets of the newly formed Air Force had the first few words of the lyrics, “Off we go,” sewn into their caps. Although "The US Air Force" is its official song, the Air Force sometimes uses other songs at regional and national events.
