Are there any airfare deals available for senior citizens?

While certain airlines, such as Southwest, United Airlines and US Airways, offer senior fares, the fares typically aren't cheaper than standard adult fares. The passenger must be at least 65 years of age to qualify for a senior fare on one of those airlines, as of June 2015.

Senior fares may not be available for certain flights. Some airlines allow passengers to book senior fares online, while others require them to call the airline. According to Anne McDermott of FareCompare.com, senior fares on United Airlines and US Airways were the same price as standard adult fares. The senior fare on Southwest was more expensive than the standard adult fare, but it was refundable.
