Albania is in southeastern Europe. It is bordered by the Adriatic Sea to the west and the Ionian Sea to the southwest. Albania is bordered by Montenegro to the northwest, Kosovo to the northeast, Macedonia to the east and Greece to the south and southeast.
Albania is only about 45 miles away from the border of Italy. Albania's coastline stretches for approximately 300 miles. The country covers a total area of about 11,000 square miles, making it a little smaller than the state of Maryland and the 145th largest country in the world. Tirana is the capital and the largest city in Albania. The country's population is estimated to be over 3 million people as of 2014.
