What is an albino boxer?

White boxers are not albino. Their color results from an extreme piebald gene. About 20 to 25 percent of all boxers are born with white markings exceeding the breed standard, which does not allow white over more than one-third of the dog's coat.
White boxers range from having normal fawn or brindle coloring over more than half their coats to animals that are white with only small colored markings. Most are healthy, but 20 to 25 percent of white boxers suffer unilateral or bilateral deafness. White boxers are also prone to sunburn. They cannot be registered or shown in competition, but they can compete in obedience and other canine disciplines.
