Alexander Graham Bell was born on March 3, 1847, in the city of Edinburgh, Scotland. He died at the age of 75 on Aug. 2, 1922 in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Bell took on the work with the deaf that his father began. Based on his work there, he became interested in the idea of transmitting telegraph messages across different frequencies. This interest led him to wonder about the feasibility of transmitting voice messages. His work culminated the invention of the telephone on March 10, 1876. This first telephone call was between Bell and his partner Thomas Watson. He founded the Bell Telephone Company on July 9, 1877.
