Alexander Graham Bell lived much of his life in the town of Brantford, Ontario. The educator and primary inventor of the telephone settled there with his family in 1870.
Bell was born in the cultural city of Edinburgh, Scotland in 1847. At the age of 18, he moved with his father to London, returning to his hometown periodically to teach at Weston House Academy. Once the family settled in Canada, Bell spent much of his time traveling, tutoring deaf students in Boston and working at the Volta Laboratory, which he established in Washington, D.C. Bell died on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia in 1922.
