How often does an aloe vera plant flower?

The flower of the aloe vera plant typically blooms once in the summer, but only on mature plants in sunny locations. An aloe vera plant's flowers are yellow, blooming on racemes on stalks that grow as high as 3 feet tall.
Aloe vera that is grown in a container only blooms if it is located by a window that gets a substantial amount of direct sunlight or if it is in a bright, sunny location outdoors. A mature aloe vera plant is more likely to bloom if it is fertilized lightly with a liquid fertilizer, such as a 10-40-10 bloom-type fertilizer. In the U.S., aloe vera thrives outdoors year-round in Zones 10, 11 and 12.
