What is ammonium lactate used for?

Ammonium lactate cream is used to treat dry and scaly skin conditions, such as xerosis and ichthyosis vulgaris. It helps prevent itching of the skin condition and treats it by increasing the amount of moisture in the skin.

Before using the cream, it is necessary to shake the bottle well. A small amount of cream should then be rubbed into the affected area of the skin, twice a day or as directed by the physician. It is not recommended to use it on broken skin, near orifices or eyes. Sometimes, when applied to the face or sensitive skin like chapped skin, the cream may sting.
