What is an ANCC nursing certification?

An ANCC certification is a nursing certification granted by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. It is designed to allow nurses to demonstrate expertise in specialties. The certification is granted based on results of targeted exams.

Examples of specialties that nurses can receive ANCC certification in include cardiac rehabilitation, ambulatory care, forensic nursing, gerontological nursing, pediatric nursing, pain management and public health nursing. Mental health, home health and medical-surgical nursing specialty certifications are also available, as are certifications for nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists.

The ANCC also has a Credentialing Knowledge Center that provides educational materials for nurses and nursing organizations.
