Which animals are predators of owls?

Many owls are apex predators, meaning that healthy adults have no natural predators in the wild. Some species, such as the burrowing owl, face predation by hawks, badgers and foxes. Adult great horned owls have no natural enemies.

Owls are typified by their large eyes, flat faces and facial disks. The feathers around each disk can be manipulated to direct sound to the owl's ear cavities. The owl's highly developed eyes are capable of seeing in low-light conditions. Most species of owl are nocturnal and utilize stealth to surprise and capture prey. The sharp beak and powerful talons of the owl assist in seizing prey, which is mostly comprised of insects and rodents.
