What are the Appalachian Highlands?

The Appalachian Highlands are a mountain range in Eastern North America. They run from Canada to regions of Georgia and through Alabama.
The Northern section of the Appalachians runs from Newfoundland in Canada to the Hudson River in New York. It encompasses the Longfellow Mountains in Maine, the White Mountains in New Hampshire and the Green Mountains in Vermont.
The Central section travels from the Hudson Valley through West Virginia. This portion includes some of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Taconic Mountains in New York.
The Southern section runs from West Virginia to the end of the range. It features the rest of the Blue Ridge Mountains as well as the Cumberland Plateau.
