The largest earnings report ever published by Apple resulted from the release of the iPhone 6 on Sept. 19, 2014. During the 2015 first quarter trading period of October, November and December 2014, Apple reported a net profit of $18 billion, including iPhone sales of 74.5 million units.

iPhone 6 sales broke many Apple records, with pre-orders of the device exceeding 4 million within the first 24 hours and 10 million units being sold within the first three days of availability. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were released as successors to the previous iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S.
