It takes 8 minutes to boil a 1-pound lobster, 15 minutes for a 2-pound lobster and 25 minutes for a 3-pound lobster. Base the cooking time on the weight of the individual lobsters and not the collective weight, if cooking more than one at the same time.

Use salted water when boiling lobsters so that they retain a slight taste of the ocean. The pot used to boil the lobsters must be large enough so that the shellfish aren't too crowded, and it should contain roughly 3 quarts of water for each 1.5 to 2 pounds of lobster that will go into it.
