During a casting call, a photo and resume are usually submitted by mail to a casting director to that show. The actor should not drop off his photo and resume personally or call the casting director. Extras are usually also cast by casting directors whom the production company hires.

Disney Channel may also have open calls, in which actors within a certain age range can audition in front of Disney Channel representatives for consideration in shows and movies. A resume may or may not be required. A photograph is typically required, but it may not have to be a head shot.
