Wheel of Fortune scouts for contestants at Wheelmobile events; however, these events are not open auditions because not every attendee is guaranteed an interview. Wheel of Fortune accepts contestant applications year-round through its official website.

At Wheelmobile events, participants fill out contestant application forms. Thousands of people may be present at each Wheelmobile stop. However, only a small number of participants selected through a random drawing have the chance to interview for the show and play a mock game for prizes.

Wheel of Fortune states that filling out an online application is the most effective way to get an audition, though a limited number of applicants are chosen. The online application has three main parts: a basic information form, video or photo upload section and a demographic questionnaire.
