When did Continental Airlines merge with United Airlines?
By Forinfos - 17/03/2026 - 0 comments
The agreement to merge Continental and United Airlines was announced in May, 2010. However, the two airlines continued to operate separately until the Federal Aviation Administration issued a single operating license the following year. Continental's last flight flew in March, 2012, after which all flights flew under the United name.
The new airline, known simply as United, is part of the Star Alliance group of airlines, which includes many well-known names, such as Lufthansa, Air Canada and Turkish Airlines. United runs more than 5,300 flights a day to 369 destinations across the world and has a workforce of more than 85,000 people, as of 2015.
