Where do ash trees grow?

Ash trees grow across Europe, Asia and North America in a wide variety of climates, being found in the Arctic Circle as well as in Turkey. They grow well in almost all conditions except for sandy areas. They prefer sunlight, so they may be rarer in heavily shaded areas.

Ash trees are considered common on all continents where they grow. They often grow together in clusters and are sometimes grown as ornamental trees in gardens or arboretums. Generally tall trees, they can reach heights of up to 100 feet. Most ashes are deciduous, though some varieties found in the subtropics are evergreens. Ash trees are all part of the Fraxinus family.
